Can any of you who are in a Grad School or have graduated with an MBA degree share with me how you went about researching schools, applying, etc?

I'm feeling kind of lost in all of this, not really know where to begin. So far, I'm thinking of taking a GMAT prep class to help me get the best possible score I can since my undergrad GPA is kinda low. I'm also going to try and take some classes in the summer to help boost my GPA.

But yeah, I'd just like to hear how easy or hard it was for some of you and any advice you can give me. I'm trying to apply for Fall 2008.

BTW, I graduated with an EE degree in 2004 and have been working since then.

Thanks.

If your GPA is low, then definitely put emphasis on the GMAT. Most high-end MBA programs require several years of industry experience, to the extent that experience alone could make or break your application.

Work experience and the interview are the 2 most important aspects

GMAT and GPA are secondary

So did your interviews require you to talk about your work exp a lot and why you decided to pursue an MBA?

1) Find a job that will pay for b-school
2) Get accepted to b-school
3) Attend b-school for free

Yup, a lot of questions cross-referenced my career, resume, essay and why I wanted to get into B-school. Can be a bit tricky if u've overpadded stuff :D

I hope you have a good bit of professional work experience before getting your MBA. From what I've seen, MBA's arent what they used to be, and are near worthless if you dont have prior professional experience. My old roomate graduated Intl. Business, and went straight into an MBA program. After graduation, he got a desk job at a marketing company making about 20K/yr, and last I heard he was looking to become a user car salesman. Now alot of this is due to his pretentious, prickish personality, but it also shows that the MBA didnt exactly do wonders for him.

Hmm....

well I have about 2.5 years of engineering experience and I've come to the conclusion that I do not want to do engineering anymore. I believe I could do well with a business degree. I'm looking into either accounting or finance.
