Can anyone recommend VPN options?

I saw on another site someone recommending getting a VPN to order illicit things from the "dark web".

So I'm googling VPN, and it seems there are lots of options. Providers, protocols, etc.

Anyone have any advice as to which way to go for a newbie? I have a regular windows machine.

Thanks!

If you're ordering illicit things, any reputable VPN provider will turn you over to the feds as soon as they're subpoena'd.

And any disreputable VPN provider isn't somebody you want logging all your internet traffic.

I think you need a different strategy. Look into TOR or something. (Or whatever replaced it once the NSA broke TOR.)

Ya Dave, I wasn't going to order anything illicit, but wanted to check out the deep web and what not.

Is Tor (or whatever replaced it) really all you need? I thought the whole idea behind getting a VPN was security and anonymity.

Thanks!

Erm, this seems like a shady request... 'someone recommending getting a VPN to order illicit things'
If you wanted to check out the "dark web" there must be a reason.

As Dave said, pretty much anyone you will use will turn your data over faster than you can blink if the feds come knocking.
Tor isn't foolproof, there have been many people busted using that.

So, the main advice for a newbie is to don't go poking your nose in places without expecting it to bleed.

Hi,

Need some help with VPN. I am going Singapore for two months and would like to watch shows on my Netflix and Hulu if possible. I would like to sign up a VPN account but not sure which one to look for. Been to Singapore before and not impressed with the TV programs.

Thanks!

If Singapore blocks content like China I would look into VPN.AC. Just install state side first. Use the OpenVPN ECC or XOR encryption scheme and port 443 to look like normal SSL traffic.

Hello Friends,

I'm looking best VPN software. Please suggest me.

As I posted in the other topic that John Connor linked, you should pick a VPN that suits your needs the most from http://comparisonvpn.com. I like the site because it's fact based, not "who pays me the most" based.

All VPN providers have their own software. It's pretty much:

1. Choose
2. Download
3. Install
4. Done

I'd recommend PureVPN from the list, but make sure it suits your needs!!

Thanks guys! Unfortunately, Singapore blocked everything and most stuffs are censored. Will look into your recommendations.

Encrypted communication is good.

In fact, here is my reply before decrypting it to post in this thread:

I don't know what I meant to say, but neither do prying eyes. 🙂
