If anyone could shoot me their thoughts and suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Right now my bedroom sounds like an aircraft taking off when I have all of my computers on -- main rig and media rig listed below in my sig, as well as a sun workstation.

To quiet things down, I was thinking of getting a P180 for my main rig. First off is that a good choice? I've also got a lot of stuff in this thing, so what are good, quiet, reliable 500 watt+ PSU's (is the Neo Power still a good choice)?

I'm also running the stock HSF on my p4 prescott -- should that be switched out with an XP-90 / 120 ?

---

As far as my media computer goes, its sitting in a 5 dollar case behind a 26'' lcdtv on a $20 tv stand from ikea. While this isn't so much of a problem, I would like something that took up a little less room. Are HTPC cases (I was looking a few Silverstone ones on xoxide.com) worth it? Or would I be better off with micro-atx cube cases (probably would go with the x-qpack) ?

---

Any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

P180 is a good choice. Look at the Seasonic S12 if you want quiet. 500W S12 should be good for your main rig.

Add some Yate Loons to the P180 and a seasonic PSU. I'm not personally familiar with Prescott stock coolers, but you can't go wrong replacing it with a thermalright (Xp90/120 or SI/Ultra 120) and a nice quiet fan. Neo powers are relatively quiet, just not that reliable unless you get the later revisions.

The case itself doesn?t make noise; the components inside it do, for a case this would be the fans. That said there are cases that are better suited for low noise systems then others but generally those just tend to be better cases in general.

The P180 has things going for it but it has quality issues (it's fragile), and uses far too much plastic (looks cheap) in it's construction for it's price.

I would take a look at the Lian Li V1100, if you like the looks and features of the P180.

The suggestions for Yate Loon case fans and Seasonic PSU are very good choices.

the P180 is nice buy expensive. look at some of the offering by CoolerMaster. i have the Centurion 5 and besides being very quite, it is strong (made of complete steel) has screwless design and look really good. it also costs only $50. look here at the Centurion 5

If you are in the market for an X-QPack type case, I'd suggest the Ultra MicroFly (I don't like to recommend Ultra products, but they did it better this time). Look at the Enermax Liberty modular PSUs for that one. Also look at the Enhance ENP-5140/5150GH at eWiz via Froogle (save a buck or so) for either.

The Raidmax X1 would make a decent case for your main system if you'd like to keep the costs down. And of course I always recommend the Antec SLK3000-B (and the similar Rosewill R6A series - identical inside/better looking outside) or the Rosewill R560x (review here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ if you really want to keep costs down.

I would put all that stuff out in your garage, or whatever, and network it to a (silent) workstation in your bedroom!

That's what a friend of mine does. He's got a water-cooled terabyte Wi-Fi server out in his garage, with broadband, and just runs around his house with a laptop... ;)

LL PC-7B or LL PC-60B would be my choices. You got the PSU. Just add some Yate Loon case fans and you're ready.
