Hi, Im considering on buying an electric scooter, much like <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.currietech.com.au/products/phatflyer2002.htm" target=blank>this one.
</A>
I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for an electric scooter around a 300-500 dollar range? I don't know what to look for in a scooter; do you know what I should be on the lookout for (speed, range, etc). Any related information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!!

I've heard that electric scooters work best if the person riding it weighs less than 180 pounds.

are gas ones cheaper? Im pretty sure they are louder and do cost more in terms of gas. Do you need a licence even?

You want one capable of at least 20mph, the typical 13mph models you see everywhere have insufficient power to make it up short inclines that you will encounter anywhere. In these situations, the motor will just shut off automatically to protect from thermal overload. Gas models will be much more powerful with extended range, but they are noisy and may even be illegal to ride on city streets, check your ordinances.

Hmm, I live in Berkeley so the lack of power may be a concern for me..
