Can anyone recommend any 'smart' action movies.

I always liked Ronin. Great action, and de Niro's great as always. The bad guys are not caricatures, like your typical Steven Segal movie.

If you haven't seen John Woo's HK films, The Killer, Hard-Boiled, and A Better Tomorrow are all good.

Another good HK film that reminded me of Leon/The Professional was Time And Tide

Fun old & cheesy: The Hidden with Kyle MacLachlan and Claudia Christian from B5

(And Ronin of course.)

Netflix has all of these if your local Blockbuster doesn't.

i'd say ocean's eleven. awesome movie - i've watched it 15 times and still love it. i don't think it'd qualify as an action movie though.
