Can anyone recommend a virtual synthesizer?

I've often looked at various synthesizers, but don't want to plunk down hundreds or thousands of dollars. Based on prior experience,
I would probably lose interest pretty quickly....

Can any of you recommend some sort of virtual synthesizer to play around with on PC, perhaps to sort of try out a bit?

I think he/she wants a synth sound program. I know there is an android app called Caustic that is a pretty decent synth player but doesnt really have real synth brands in it. Which is why I suggested heading to a guitar center and mess around with their synths. My son did this and bought 2 of em over the years. Me, I bought a Juno 6 from a crackhead in 1983 for like 200 hundred bucks. They went for over 5K then.
