Hi,

basically I broke the wireless switch on my laptop and now can only connect through either-net and that is getting too inconvenient.

Can someone give me some recommendations for wi-fi usb adapters? Any good brands?

I don't have experience with this adapter, but it cheap and has good reviews on both Amazon and Newegg. Why I recommend it is due to it's size, so it won't have to be removed every time you put the laptop away.

EDIMAX EW-7811Un at Newegg

EDIMAX EW-7811Un at Amazon

Any cheap adapter will do. They all perform nearly the same, it's just a receiver. Don't let the marketing fool you, and snag one for a buck or two on ebay.

What the reasons are for the large price differences btwn certain brands/models, I don't know.

Its a transmitter as well otherwise it won't be useful at all.
