Can anyone recommend a good webcam???

I'm very interested in buying a webcam. I've never had one and I thought you guys could give me some good advice! Here is my situation:

1. I'll be communicating from the west coast to the east coast on two Windows XP machines
2. East coast computer is on cable modem, west coast is on 56K but strongly considering upgrading to DSL or cable soon
3. Don't need any fancy bells and whistles (I'll probably be talking on a cell phone while on netcam)...just one that's compatible, has good image quality, reliable, and not too expensive
4. Currently using AIM but can it communicate from one IP address to another directly?

I appreciate your feedback!

Thanks!

Use to be Logitech quickcam pro 4000, but Logitech has had too many issues using the webcam and Messengers(AOL or Yahoo) There are about 100 emails on Logitech forums hoping a new driver from Logitech will correct the problem, but not yet. I have 3 friends who have the same problem.

Maybe try the top of Creative webcams. I really don't know. The Logitech works great if you are using it to take pictures or video and sent an attached file, just not with any Messenger.

I tried a bunch and Logitech were the only ones with half way decent picture quality. I never used it much though so I can't really vouch for it's compatibility with other software though. Picture quality beat the others hands down.

You must not have tried Creative's webcams, the best made. I've had mine for ~4 years, and it still does 640x480 video better than any other webcam I've seen to date.
