I'm looking for books home/LAN neworking under Widows 2000/XP or Linux. Basically something that will show the different hardware methods as well as the best way to configure the network. Thanks!

Well, basically, networking is networking...it's only a matter of scope and scale.

I don't know of any books that specifically address the home-use market, perhaps a couple websites would give you a more focused version of "how-to."

Microsoft probably has some good references on their site, and Practicallynetworked.com...something like that might be what you're looking for.

If you do a search for author=jackmds, he frequently posts some links to home equipment comparisons and basic how-to sites.

Good Luck

Even tho I personally hate that whole cutesy "Dummies" title thing, they have titles like:

Windows 2000 Networking for Dummies
Networking for Dummies
Home Networking for Dummies
TCP/IP for Dummies

Take your pick.

Personally, I'd start looking at stuff from PracticallyNetworked. It's all free, and probably better written.
