Can anyone recommend a good free ISP?

Is JUNO any good? Netzero is available in my area but I've heard that it has busy signals and annoying ads.

JUNO works pretty well. The only problem is if you try to connect 24-7 , they limit your access after some warnings.

I've never used NetZero.

Bluelight.com is a decent free ISP too (the cd's for it can be found at Kmart). only issue is that it pops up annoying banner ads you can't get rid of.

Nerzero is pretty good overall. When it comes down to it, it depends on where you live. When I get the chance, I'll be happy to send you the link so that you can download a patch to get rid of the annoying banners...

I heard that netzero recently changed it's rules so now you only get 40 hours a month free. Then again, I guess you could have multiple accounts.. 😉

blstriker is correct. Beyond 40 hours it now costs money. It is because of crap like this:

Russ, I didn't mean to offend anyone... Just trying to help ryudo out.
ryudo, the patch is out there, just search for it.

SMKungPao,

The point is that the only way an ISP can provide the free service is if they generate the ad revenue necessary to support the cost. Why do you think they're closing up shop left and right?

It's because of people who abuse it, and hack out the banners.

AFAIK, all the free ISP's are pretty much gone, except netzero, which may or may not make it through the next year. Then everybody's back to paying $20 a month for a plain jane ISP or gasp! AOL.

Here's an awesome free ISP w/ no banners if you live in Washington state or Oregon (Oregon though is limited).

Nocharge.com
