Can anyone recommend a good digital recording setup?

Hey guys! Really I want something semi basic, but don't know much about what I need. I have a "music room" in my house, and it has very decent sound reduction (not much from the outside). I've a AMD X64 based comp that I want to be able to easily hit a button during jam sessions and the like, and get a not-too grainy reproduction. Now, not expecting anything super, but I can throw a couple hundred at it. =)

As I said, new to this stuff. I was told to look into getting a (or two, a 58 and a 59?) Shure SM58 cardiod mic, but as for the input I'm at a loss. Do I need one of those sound cards with a connector to an external D/ac board, or will one of those Creative audigy 2 ZS's do the trick? Best software to grab?

I appreciate any feedback from fellow musicians!
