Can anyone recommend a good backpack for a laptop?

So I have a 17" laptop on its way to my house, and I'd prefer to get a backpack for it instead of a brief-case type bag. Does anyone know a good backpack I can get for it? I'd like to spend no more than $50 + shipping for it. I already have a backpack for college, do I even need to get a new one for the computer?

I'm searching around Amazon right now, and nothing spectacular is jumping out at me.

I really like the Targus backpack that I picked up at BestBuy (was on sale; competitively priced for a change). I've seen other Targus backpacks that are of great quality, too.

I'm going to get a Wenger (Swiss Army people) Maxxum backpack for my MacBookPro. CompUSA has them for $70, Amazon.com has them for $50. You should also check ebags.com which seems to have a bunch to choose from.

I just got this free backpack with my dell laptop order. It's actually really nice...even nicer for being free. ANd it's damn big, and holds my 17" ws perfectly!

I have the Wenger Black Backpack that you can find at BB for 75$ but amazon for 50$. It has been great (fits 15.4" widescreen though. I dont think it fit 17" screen as my 15.4" is very snug (Dell E1505).

My roommate has the Red Wenger bag that is slightly different design and fits his E1405 very well.

You may be forced to get a Targus.

The Kinsington Contour backpack is the one I use for my Dell 9300. It is the only one I use, I don't need a seperate one. Laptop fits in snugly, it has many pockets and also lumbar support.

I have one that is similar to that (its a Kensington as well) and its great. I got it back when I planned to get an XPS Gen 2, but then ended up using it as my normal backpack and its great all around. Has a rubber bottom, plenty of padding for a laptop, nice fit when you wear it, and just is all around great.

no, you don't need a new backpack. i've been carrying my computer around in normal backpacks for 3 years. even with books stacked on top of it

as long as your backpack has sufficient padding it should be fine. But my old LLBean backpack didn't and I really don't want to sacrifice my $3000 laptop.

I bought a neoprene sleeve for my laptop and put it inside of my backpack--works really well, and I don't have to carry around one of those ugly, large laptop backpacks
