I think his north bridge is getting too hot after getting to high FSB. I personally is also thinking going DS/S3 myself when I upgrade. Anyone here got a good soln to solve this problem? thx.

Are you sure it's overheating? It's designed to withstant some pretty ridiculous temps. What FSB are you currently running at?

I was worried about it as well, the NB is close enough to the CPU to make it very difficult to get any kind of fan on there with the CPU heatsink in the way. But despite the fact the NB heatsink is scorching hot to the touch, the computer runs perfectly stable.

My NB got hotter 'n snot too. Asus passive heatsink would cause a burn if touched. I modded w/ the Scythe that myocardia recommends and a little plumbers "Goop". My NB temps dropped signifigantly. With the asus heatsink I cut the interior fins and w/ the fan gained only 5mm height.

cool tx guys, I did a little digging on the motherboard side of this forum (but I still feel more comfy asking people here, just trust people here), people even recommended zip tie a 50/60mm to the side of it. I think I will tell my friend to do that since he has a ton of unused fan parts from old rigs. If that don't work I think he can glue one on like myocadia said.

thx again guys, know I can count on ya!

Hey, zip tying a 60mm fan to the side would work, as long as there's room for it. I just always recommend a 30 or 40mm fan right on top, because it looks alot better, and cools about as well.
