I have the bulk of my pc network in the basement of my house and a couple of PC's upstairs that I want to connect to the network, without the hassle of running network cables all over the shop.

I have seen a few manufacturers offering wireless cards that support 11 mbps, but I would like to hear from someone who as actually set up a network using these cards. Just to see if they had a lot of problems and if they found them reliable ?

Any feedback would be really appreciated.

I am using Orinoco Gold cards for my laptops at home. They work pretty well, but I usually only connect at 2.0mbps - not near the 11 theoretical maximum.

You may want to put in more than wireless access point if you notice that you are not getting very good speeds (like me).

Look for something that supports the 802.11b standard...

Cisco Aironet all the way... i've used their products (just finished setting up a wireless network using a pure aironet solution) and they are awesome.

They are PC Magazine and Network World's top choices. The only downfall is their pricey nature.
