Loading up a test machine as a http/ftp server. Downloaded Apache for the http, but I need something to run FTP.

Any ideas? War-FTP and Serv-U come to mind.... anyone know of an open source one like Apache?

Yeah yeah I should move it to Linux... I'll do that eventually.

Thanks

I know people love War-FTP for some reason, but in my experience it sucks. I've installed it on many different systems with many different operating systems, and it just dogs. Maybe I'm screwing up a config setting, but I don't see anything about limiting bandwidth or anything. Even on my local LAN transfer speeds are horrible. Serv-U is good though, but ProFTP under Linux is really the way to go (eventually for you).

Bullet is a good one... couldn't get it to work properly behind my router though. It worked well on a computer not behind a router though.

What's wrong with IIS's FTP Server? Once you patch it, it is pretty stable and secure. Most of the security exploits in IIS are for the web server portion anyway, so you don't have to worry about having to install security patches continously.
