hearsay: the report of another person's words by a witness, usually disallowed as evidence in a court of law. You are getting the report of another person's words. You did not hear them. Regardless of the credibility of your friend, it is hearsay. You did not hear the conversation. You were told it by someone who heard it.

For me? Yes, I agree. My friend would have been a direct witness. But this isn't a court case. If you want the narrative changed to say 'a female friend of mine (that I know to be very reliable and honest) was told directly by the woman...and conveyed that to me'. I'm good with that. But however you want to split hairs, I have no reason to doubt my friend in the matter and every reason to believe that the lady in question would actually be that naive to tell my friend what transpired. My boss also conveyed directly to me that the final decision meeting was open and shut. There were dissenting opinions, but they were shot down immediately.

I'm not at that company anymore, so it's all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. I just wanted to convey that reverse discrimination does indeed happen. It was sad in a way, because nobody really took her seriously.

If there is no pay gap between genders, then Google, Apple, Intel and Adobe didn't wage-fix their former employee's salaries - those former employees sucked at negotiations and lacked skills.

A lot of times, people that got hired into the same job are paid differently, regardless of qualifications or gender. It's called negotiation. That's why salary is always a touchy subject, and some of these so called studies are less than honest in their disclosures to fit their narratives. I'm willing to bet if they just do an honest study that breaks down the numbers without looking at genders, there are probably equal numbers of male employees who are getting paid less than their colleagues, doing the same job.

And no, no companies are going to raise your pay automatically just because they paid someone higher that they just hired.

Where I work, there is a healthy mix of males and females amongst the ranks of the organization. Many females in manager and director and team lead type roles.

Very few females in VP or Senior VP type roles.
