my sys is a A64, 2600Mhz, 1GB ram, DX9 card (X850XT), audigy 2, nforce 4 dfi lanparty motherboard

so....

Vista 64bit ?

Vista 32bit ?

And why ?

Do games run faster ?

Do applications run faster ?

Filesystem faster ?

I have never seen anyone screaming in ecstasy about vista..even running the 64bit version.

If everything is the same (or slower) performance wise - then what's the point ? Or rather wait 'til we have DX10 cards and then try ?

thanks

I would want to try but then i am not in the mood to fiddle around with beta-
drivers and not working stuff.

32bit

Because Vista is shiny, and 32bit is less sucky than 64bit

Because it's newer and lots of people have some odd fetish for having the newest thing available.

So far I've not seen a single reason to upgrade based upon RC1 limited use. Some of the gizmos and gadgets are neat but....

I run XP Pro but really think 2000 is still as good as any of them... just doesn't get the attention.

The only reason I'm trying to learn something about Vista is that I occasionally work on other folk's computers. Expect to be seeing troubled Vista machines within a year and it would be nice to at least have a clue. 😱

only dx10 games will run faster, dx9 may mostly run similar to xp or perhaps slower due to more background resources that vista uses

only buy it if you want it...you shouldnt need an excuse for things not needed
