Can anyone identify this chip on a HP Elite 8100 SFF motherboard?

The PC died suddenly, no sign of life at all (not even the motherboard standby power LED).

Tested by progressively removing everything attached to motherboard and powering up each time. Only when I removed the CPU did the standby LED finally light up, but the chip in question also started glowing and smoking.

Motherboard: MS-7557 Ver 1.00 , HP spare part no: 531991-001.

Should be able to score equal or better CPU for cheap on Ebay. Since this is SFF model watch the TDP, you might be limited to ~85W parts (or lower). I have been cleaning up on this older generation LGA 1156 and 1155 stuff.

Thanks, yes managed to get the same (i3-550) for a tenner, couldn't wait for a sensibly-priced i5 as I need it working by the weekend.
