Bob970's post just reminded me that i need to find someone who has good calligraphy skills with Chinese / Japanese lettering.

I want my middle name, Ei (or just "A" in english) on my back.
It means honor / glory.. and I figured that would be the only thing I'd want tatooed on my that I probably wouldn't regret later.

So if anyone here can hand-write that for me (doesn't have to be too large, maybe 3-5" square) and either scan it / email it or snail mail it to me I'll paypal you a few bucks or send you something cool for your trouble.
Pen work is fine, but brush stroke would be PHENOMENAL. :)

Oh, and please, no smart-ass remarks from any of you who don't think highly of tattoos. This is for myself only, not to look "cool."

It depends on how long you want to wait. :)

I want to start doing some kanji, but I have to buy some supplies first (a brush, primarily). I could try it with my Gothic tools ("standard" calligraphy -- pen and ink) and see how that works. I'll see what I can come up with in the next week or so.

BTW, tatoos are bad and wrinkle up when you get old. :D (couldn't resist)

AndrewR,
There's no such thing as Okinawa cho. There's Okinawa ken(prefecture), and there's Okinawa shi(city). :)

well, my dad does a lot of calligraphy (we have hundreds of dollars worth of "equipment').........funny story related to yours, actually: My cousin had my dad write him a big chinese character (his last name in American, first word in Chinese), and w/o my dad knowing it, he took it to a tattoo parlor and had it tattooed on his back. It's f*cking sweet, but it's gonna look weird in the future, since he's pretty ripped now, and it's gonna sag. :)

There shouldn't be any difference with us being Chinese, so if you're interested, I'm sure he'd write something up for you, and I have a scanner at work. LMK, PM me.

Ah, ok, wasn't sure of the translation of Okinawa City (since the Japanese always just say "Okinawa City" when talking to me or asking my address). I'll put Okinawa shi in there. Thanks! :D

Doesn't "shi" mean "death" in one of its iterations?

My kanji writing is horrible along with my English penmanship.

BTW: Shi stands for city along with death, 4, etc. They are spelled differently in kanji but pronounced the same way.

Sorry, coffee hasn't kicked in yet. I'm a grim, humorless drone until then. :)
Gimme another 15 minutes.
