Can anyone help with a network problem?

We have a computer that's connect to the internet which has another NIC sharing that connection. That is run to a router which takes that connection and gives it to whatever computer wants it.

We have 2 wireless laptops and one wired computer connected to it. The wired connects to the net fine through it, however, we're having no connection with the wireless.

Any help?

What kind of router? did you adjust the settings on the router? or the wireless cards?

It's a wireless Netgear router MR814 v.2 ....what settings would we need to adjust on the router? Wireless? Keep in mind the other wired comp works.

We have to do ICS because we have to be registered w/ whatever @ school. The internet won't/cant be connected to the router.

well if your using one of those netgear ma301 (or is it 401?) wireless pieices of shlt for the laptops you may need to set up an encryption key.

Then find the right router. MAC address cloning and user/pass connection built into the router are a god-send. 🙂 Get a Linksys WRT54G and upload a linux image to it. Program the router to clone your PC's connection/ID settings and voila. 🙂

No, you don't have to do ICS at all. The reason the router won't work at the front is because your school is probably looking for the MAC address on the PC. Find out what the MAC address is for the NIC that's connecting to the internet, set the router to report that as its MAC address and you should be good to go. With your router though I just found that the router has the capability of capturing that MAC address and reporting it as it's MAC address so that makes things simpler. Basically go into the router's setup and the option should be in there.
