I'd say it's a power supply issue - that's usually the culprit for random reboots. How many watts are you running?

Try putting in a new power supply (350+ w), that should work

but when i install w2k pro, it didn't random reboot, only xp. but w2k makes my computer run slow for some reason. i ask around, many people told me that nvidia card and via chipset have conflict that will cause the computer crash. will my video card be the problem? i have 350 watt power supply

If you can duplicate the reboots and they're not random, then I guess it's not a powersupply issue after all.

Via chipsets are known to have issues with many types of peripherals... I didn't think nVidia cards were one of them, but I could be wrong. But I see you're using a Sound Blaster Live, and that has known conflicts with Via. I don't know how to fix that... try your sblive drivers, i but that's just a guess. There are plenty of seasoned people in these forms, hopefully one of them will drop by and solve your problem.

Good luck

Someone tell me if I'm being stupid here, but...you could also try no soundcard for awhile to see if it fixes the problem too.

If it's an IRQ problem with the Sound Blaster, moving the card to the lowest PCI slot sometimes helps. And if you mention anything else about IRQ's, Andy Hui will come around and tell you to read the FAQ, so play nice and check it out - it will make Andy feel loved and appreciated.

It would help if you could describe in more detail the circumstances under which the reboots happen - after the box has been running for a while? When sound is output? Totally random? etc. etc.

edit: typo

well, sometime if i leave my computer idle, all the sudden i will hear the reboot noise for no reason! i guess it will b e totally random or sometimes when i play vidoe games, the computer will lock up and just reboot by itself!

can my floppy drive be the problem? because when i run safe and load default in my bios, the floppy won't work, but when i change the bios to optimazing default, the floppy works again. and now i took out my floppy and my computer is running fine.
