hello
i have finished building a computer for work this evening consisting of
epox bkta3 mobo
duron 1000
128 pc 133
20 gb seagate ultra ata 100
geforce 2 mx
samsung 52 speed cdrom
windows 98 first edition

have fdisked, formated and installed windows 98 first edition
the next thing i tried to do was install the driver cd that came with the mobo but it came up with a setup caused invalid page fault,
the computer would freeze when i tried to run the cd

so i installed the cd rom drivers that came with the cd drive (floppy)
then i installed video card drivers from a cdrom (no problem)
tried mobo driver cd again and the system froze again
i tested the mobo cd rom in my other computer and it started okay no setup fault

i downloaded the via drivers and have managed to install the via 4 in 1`s and that is all

office 2000 installed from cd rom okay

but a different cdrom wont open, i tried browsing to open it and it hangs with the egg timer showing for about 5 minutes, if i have to reboot to get back to windows, i need to restore my active desktop

also in the -run-browse it takes about a minute for the where to look drop down to open

does anyone know how to fix this problem with the cdrom not working on this mobo
i tried to flash the bios to an updated version but got a non system disk message

thanks to any one who can help

Check your driver CD, it may be warped or it may not have been pressed/burned properly. One small surface error can give many hours of headaches trying to troubleshoot hardware that isn't broken. Contact the MB manufacturer and have them send you a new disk, or see if the complete disk is available off the net. Good luck!
