I'm selling an old 5 disc carousel cd player.
This guy emailed me and asked me, "I heard somewhere that the laser that reads the CDs gets off balanced when the player is turned on its side or upside down? Do you know anything about this? I'm concerned about the shipping process for an item like this."

What's an answer for this? I have no idea... thanks!

My guess is that it should be fine to ship. I mean, you either bought it from a store or ordered it right? How did it get to the store? It was shipped ;)

I dont know about that model but this is how I would reply;

"I am not aware of that problem, and never have had any trouble (if you didnt) with it. "

Also you have insurance you if it does get damaged it will be covered so I wouldnt worry about it.

You could try a google search, but my guess would be it would be fine to ship. You just wouldn't want to run it while on side/upside down - whatever.

I have an old JVC 5-disk carousel player that has been shipped across the country 4 times (my family moves a lot,) and it works great.

I have that EXACT same one that I bought off of eBay, and it shipped here (NJ) from TX without problems or special precautions. :)

If you purchase anything from a store and it works the right way, chances are it's going to work for a long time. When we ship stuff at Walmart, everything is just piled in with boxes feeding off a conveyeur belt. Most items are not shipped on pallets like people think other than like dirt and dog food, etc. I've unloaded a good number of trucks and they are all piled high to the ceiling.
