Can anyone help me with installing AOE III

Hi everyone. I am probably out of luck, but was wondering if anyone could suggest a walkaround for a problem with installing Age of Empires III. I legitimately bought the game and both expansions. I initially installed and played the game without problems. Unfortunately, I uninstalled the game, but yesterday my grandson and I wanted to play it again.

Anyway, toward the end of reading the first disk, I receive an error that some file called CreditsCine.bik cannot be read and that there is an error in some cabinet file. Unfortunately, there is no option to ignore the error and continue with installation. I have to abort the installation totally. I think this file is just a cutscene or something non-critical, but due to the error, I have to abort installation. I have tried to install the game on 3 computers, one running Vista 32 bit and 2 running XP. I get the same error on every machine. There are a few imperfections on the disk, but to be honest, I have installed games from disks that looked a lot worse.

Could there be some problem other than a damaged disk?? I thought it might be related to my home comp with Vista which has a few software issues. However, since I get the same error on 2 other XP computers, I am tending to think of it as a problem with the disk.

Is there any way to repair the disk or to ignore the defective file and continue installation??
I have the original game and both expansions, and of course I cannot play the expansions either, since they require the original game.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I really would like to play the game, but probably not bad enough to buy a new set of disks.

You might be able to copy the contents of the disks to the hard drive and install that way. Otherwise, you're quickest option may be to download some ISOs and install from those using your CD keys.

You could also try emailing their customer support. I doubt it will get you anywhere, but it's worth a try!

What program were you using for the disc copy?

I was using Teracopy. Guess I could try to use a real disk burning utility. The disk must be truly damaged, but visually it has so few flaws that I cannot believe that the comp cant read it.

I could E-mail microsoft I guess. I believe the studio that actually made the game (Ensamble Studios) has gone out of business.
