I am trying to set up Internet Connection Sharing. I have the network running, and I can see both pc's and can ping the ip's.I use a one way cable modem (phone line upload, cable download) I have the 2 pc's networked w/ a simple crossover cable. The host pc is running win xp and the other is running 2000. I have had no luck getting the second pc to connect. I TCP/IP insatlled. have run the ICS wizard in Xp. Anyone done this before? Are their any websites w/ a how to on this?

Buy a router. Most ISPs will not let you assign an IP since most cable isps are dynamic.

I really wanted to hold off on buying a router till I get the 2 way service. It won't be a vailable in my area for a few more weeks. Do you think that it would be easier w/ a router, even though it is a dialup? I thought maybe it was getting confused while trying to download and upload on different devices over the network.

Sorry about the miss post. I should have put this in the network forum. Thanks everyone for the help. I will check out the link and the software. I told my G/F that I could set it up so we could both be on the net at the same time. Now I have to figure out how

There's just a lot of info over at Networking and I don't know if any of the 'networking gurus' hang out in OffTopic :)
