Hey guys,

ya remember in the good old days when u just fully reinstalled your faulty version of XP. Then you go online for the first time to update etc. and get bombarded by a ton of worms malware and viruses that need certain special saftey patches because your AVS/FW can't detect or remove them? yes? well i was wondering if there was a link to a .rar .zip or culminative patch that has ALL of these nesacary saviors..

You see the actual problem i'm having is that windows will boot, post and load. But upon loading all i get is a complete black screen, yet i can still move my mouse pointer and the keyboard lights indicate activity there. I have detected no virus ,rootkits or spyware and the last clue i had to the problem was a "service and controller error" that made the comp auto restart after 60 seconds (kinda like inspector gadget). I could get into safe mode no probs to try and fix it but now when i restart with any F8 mode the black screen is all i get.

If you cannot help me i am going to have to try to repair install XP and i don't want to get caught out by a flood of super worms and trojans. thx

Thank you for trying to help but i don't see exactly whati am looking for on that site. Maybe i should have mentioned i'm on Sp1 and installing Sp2 craps out my comp. (thats part of why i'm here in the first place). I just repaired my installation so i will try to find the patches on the microsoftupdate site again if i can manage to wade through the bad design. I have tried google to no luck thats why i asked here. Anyway thanks again and because i didn't see what i needed on that page i cannot renue to call you sensai ;P

what i would suggest you do is use nlite and create an updated install version of XP. you will have to download the updates one-by one or with a pack but then you have an up-to date install of XP. saves you a lot of time later on.
