Can anyone get an 800 or 900 Tbird completely stable above 1040.
I have tried every mutiplier, bus, and voltage combos, and I can boot into Windows Me, but but anything over 1040 and it gets a little quirky.
Can anyone give me more wisdom?

ok, i've got an athlon 900 at 1066 stable right now. it runs 43 deg C with no load and 48 deg C with full load. i've got an abit kt7a-raid with crucial cas2 ram. the important settings are 133 x 8 and voltage of 1.85. i had to get as much cooling as possible, including:

1) copper hedgehog with sunon 5200 rpm fan (didn't opt for the delta 6200 rpm fan--plycon said that the fan draws blood if you touch it)
2) arctic silver II thermal compound
3) front and rear case fans
4) antec hard drive fan and fan card
edit (forgot this):
5) all rounded cables: IDE, SCSI, and floppy

the rounded cables help with air flow. got all the stuff at plycon. really good guys, reasonable shipping costs, takes paypal, no sales tax for CA res (they're in GA), and lots of neat stuff. here is a link: Plycon. you can also round your own cables too, but i opted for machined stuff.

it tried the multiplier at 8.5 and it won't go there at 133. some other info: this processor is actually the retail version and is a purple die. shouldn't make a difference, but i mention it.

I have a 900 @ 1110 right now... 7.5x148... 1150 11.5x100 will lock up after an hour of ut or so.. its almsot stable. 1200 it dies loading windows

1.85v asus a7v133 pal6030 articsilver

i think it ran at 1050 default voltage, not sure
the highest i got 100% stable was 1125

at 1110 wiht case/room temp 27 max cpu is 49, i've seen it at 50 once or twice when it was unusally hot in the room

I have my 800@1.05 right now. It boots at 1.1 but can't load Win98. It wouldn't do this at first (only 1ghz) but after burning it in for a week or so, it is stable at 1.05. I like the 800 over the 900 cause it starts at a lower voltage although I have gotten a 900 to 1.1 ghz. I think the problem is a balance between power and heat. Up the voltage and it should be able to handle the new speed but then it cannot handle the heat. ACII and FOP-38 really make a difference. Also some cpus just have a limit. The ones I am working with are blue core.

I think once you get it at a certain speed that you are happy with, don't mess around cause for me, I had it at 1.05 then tried 1.1 and couldn't get it back to 1.05 right a way.

Epox 8kta+
t-bird 800@1.05 ghz at 1.85 volts
FOP-38 w/ ACII

I actually have some new 800's for sale listed in another thread. Sorry about the plug but I really need to get rid of these.

I have had a slotA Tbird 900@10x110fsb in an ASUS K7M for months at stock voltage. It is so solid and stable that it is boring.

2 TB800@1050. as stated above, boot 1100 but can't reach windows;). one on a7v 10*105 and one on kt7a 7*140. it seems its the max unless otherwise modding mobo and extreme cooling.
