I have no coffee. I think my mom brought me some tea packets a couple years ago though if that's your... cup of tea.

I live in Madison too. Now that I know where he lives, I'm gonna bug him every time I have a home theater question. BWAHAHAHAHA!

Bizarrely enough, I drive near his place about once a week anyway. :Q

Seriously, if OP could help me figure out how to wire my living room for surround sound, I'd appreciate it.

Random unrelated coincidence. I received a letter with a survey and a $2 bill from UW Madison recently. I wondered if YoYo had taken part, but after opening it I think that is very doubtful (its about some big Homeland Security facility they're interested in building here).

No, I don't think so.

do you have any game systems yoyo?

I have an n64 (I'm pretty good at goldeneye and mario kart) and an original NES. I think both of those systems are at my gf's apartment though. Neither of those systems look too good when they're blown up to large size on the projector :p

I play games on my computer rather than a gaming system.

I'll probably eventually end up with a PS3 for blu-ray capability and might get some games to go with it as well. That will not be for a while yet though.

I don't have any experience with in-wall wiring since I've only lived in rented places. I would suggest looking at dolby's guidelines for how to place your speakers.

If possible, you might want to just wire in-wall for the surrounds / rear speakers and leave yourself some options for moving speakers around for the front three. If the display is going to be up against a wall for the front and the receiver will be near it, it shouldn't be too unsightly to run wires from the receiver to the front three speakers without going through the wall. That way you'll be able to optimize placement of those speakers and get some nicer ones that could sound better away from the walls vs. mounted to them.

For the actual process of running wires, I would suggest checking out AVSforum to see what they have to say there or if they have any good resources linked.

Whoa, you live about a mile away from me. I might have to come say hi at some point. Are you a student at UW by any chance?

Could be Arman. I know someone called Arman. But I'm not sure how they spell their name. Maybe they spell it Armaan?

:shrug;

I'm a UW student until December or January I guess. I'm glad you edited to a mile. Half a mile was a little scary.

Response to Letter #3

Hi F. DeKat aka Dr. Armar G. Bose aka Felix De Kat

I'm glad to hear the picture of my netflix stack was uploaded with such benign intent. I think we sorted that out through the comments on bbzzdd already which already put my mind at ease. In addition to that, the realization that I had not given away any information that was not in a phone book already made me less worried as well. I guess the only increase in danger here was that it was now connected to the fictional online personality known as "YOyoYOhowsDAjello" rather than mild mannered dork "Sean McLaughlin" aka Mr. McRib (that was a new nickname I got today from a student... I did not respond to it). I suppose that would really only be dangerous if I had a lot of enemies on AT. I only have five people on that list for my end though, so unless I am disproportionately hated vs. what I have on my enemy list, I am probably safe? I hope.

As for the unbanning request, I have posted a thread in a mod area for someone with banning records / powers read. I do not know what the decision will be or if you will get any feedback about it though. My last unbanning thread that I made on the request of another member did get attention though. Standard procedure was for the banned member to send an e-mail to Derek Wilson or the Anandtech Moderator account asking to be unbanned. It was recommended to apologize for the past indiscretions and promise to not do them again (sounds like a good plan). I do not know what you did in 2006 to give you any indication of whether or not you have a shot at coming back.

Happy holidays to you as well. I think this is my first lottery ticket? although the fact that it was already scratched off with no prize being won took away some of the magic. It sure it shiny though. If you get a $130,000,000 winner next time, let?s split it 50/50. Oh? what the heck? 60/40 since it is the holidays and I am feeling generous.

As requested, here is an updated picture of my netflix packaging stack? complete with ?Reflecting Robot?

Yes, Bose is still crap. My Bose = Crap statement in my old sig was mainly for brevity. There are worst speakers than Bose, but at the price Bose charges for their speakers, you can do much, much better. Even if WAF is still a major concern there are better options for lower or similar prices to Bose. My main problem with the company is that they saturate media with advertisements boasting how amazing their products are and then overcharge for the equipment that is perceived as being superior to other products.
