I am all confused now 😕 I guess this is why I've been trying to avoid Sony for so long. But anyway, I got suck in now, I got a 7mp digital camera that eats flash memory like no tomorrow. So any kind soul out there want to explain what the differences are in each variation?

<----too lazy to do research

If you got that new Sony that's 7MP (DSC-V3) I believe it also takes CF type I.

Take a look here for CF comparisons on DSLRs. It should give you a good idea of which brands/versions perform consistently well.

Also, after a quick look at dpreview, it would seem the DSC-V3 needs "memory stick pro" to do 30fps video @ 640x480 for an unlimited length of time.
Lastly, you're gonna cry over the prices of memory stick.

Memory stick select: Max of 128MB per side. If you get the 256MB you have to flip it in order to use both sides.
Memory stick Pro: Faster version of MS. Goes up to 1gig. No flipping
Memory stick Ultra: Like Pro but faster.
Memory stick Pro Duo: Much smaller than MS Pro. Used in cell phones for instance. It comes with an adapter so it can be used in MS Pro compartments.

Circuit City had the 512MB MS Pro Duo for 35 bucks no rebates during black friday. I got a 512MB MS PRO for 50 dollars after rebate.
