Can anyone explain this horrible performance on my machine?

First here is my system:

Asus P3V4X with latest bios and 4 in 1s
650 PIII cb0 oc'd to 930 something
Leadtek GeForce 256 oc'd to 150 core and 340 ram
256mb Mushkin Mosel rev.2

OK, I just dl'd 3dmark 20001. Installed and ran and got a 1049 at 1024x768 32bit. I couldn't believe how low it was. I installed 7.52 detonators and tried again, but it hung. So I went back to 6.50 and got a 1060. I can't figure this out. People with similar hardware are getting more than twice the performace. All I did was opened the program and pressed benchmark so I don't know if that makes a difference and some things weren't supported by my card so the tests were skipped.

There must be something wrong. Try using the 7.52 detonaters again. They seem to be the best ones out now.

Im running a dual 500 celeron system with a geforce 2 GTS 32mb and i get around 2900.

Use the 4in1 drivers to install just the AGP miniport drivers. Make sure the AGP is set to 4X in BIOS. Turn up the voltage to the AGP port. If all else fails you may have a GeForce that draws too much power, something common in the early days of VIA/GeForce woes.

You tried putting everything back at stock speed, to rule out the problem being overheating?

Ok, problem solved. It was actually an issue that I was aware of soon after I purchased my video card. For winfast series cards running on Via chipsets, even if the bios reports as running at 4x it is only running at 2x. There is a registry hack that has to be applied to enable 4x. I had it on win98, but forgot to add it when I upgraded to win2k. I know just received a score of 2070. Does that sound about right?
