Can anyone explain the experiment...

I was reading that electrons can have corpuscular as well as wave properties and that the experiment for this threw everyone off. I don't remember the experiment very well but it was some thing like if you wanted waves instead particles you get waves and vice-versa (whether you had a detector at a certain place.) Anyone remember this?
