I have read several articles on overclocking Athlons by changing positions of surface mount resistors and would like to try that on my Athlon 500 chip. I am an electronic technician, so the desoldering and resoldering of the surface mount resistors will be no problem. Before I ruin the chip, I would like a description of how to remove the cover from an experienced overclocker.

Check out AMDZONE, they had a fairly recent article, with photos, on removing the Athlon case.

You have to remove the cover. That's pretty easy. Then you'll have to remove the heatplate which is slightly harder but still easy. Changing the resistors... VERY VERY HARD. These resistors are so much smaller than normal. It made putting mod chips in PSX's a peice of cake for me. Since you are a electronic technician it might not be as hard for you.
