ive done it with access and asp a couple times... but that is really only usefull for small scale/persnal usage. for a while i had a searchable/updateable database of my mp3s where all my music could be uploaded and downloaded thru :). i dont have any experience with the really powerful solutions but im sure i can figure it out if i needed to (like i did with access/asp).

<- can but sucks at it, which is why he is looking (was looking) for website designers for his website (www.techcerts.com) I found two people who sound like they are going to be great. this forum is certainly the place to ask for help when planning to start a website. I was surprised at the offers I got for help. I am still, however, looking for a few more content authors (to write study guides, and exams (you do get paid for this.) for techcerts.com if you are interested PM me or e-mail me at (brian@techcerts.com)

also, good luck finding help for your site, jockdisvdude

The database interaction part of it is relatively easy for me. It's the UI design part that I suck at.

to do Anandtech youd need a SQL Server backend (or i guess you could go Oracle if youre loaded) ive done sites this big and some much bigger dozens of times, but im busy and im not cheap. I can program anything youve ever seen on the internet, but I kinda suck at graphics (I'm a plumber not a painter) so if you wanted logos and banners and stuff get an artist to fill in there. PM or Email me if you want a more detailed consultation

EDIT: oh and to answer your question, to do a site of the complexity of anandtech would probably take a single programmer 2-3 monhts, but thats full time, and thats also with a locked spec, throw in your day to day changes (which every client does, you cant avoid it) it just gets longer (my estimate does not include forum development, If i were to do this site i would install a 3rd party forum and just modify the code to integrate it into the rest of the site)
