Can anyone confirm: Facebook no longer sends e-mails to notify that a private message has arrived

Once upon a time, FB used to send e-mails for every occasion. Someone liked your comment? Send an e-mail. Someone replied on a thread you contributed to? Send an e-mail, etc. However, I've noticed recently that I don't get any e-mails from FB for any vaguely ordinary activity. I just set FB (website) to send me email notifications for everything then specified exceptions, had my wife send me a FB PM, no e-mail notification arrived.

I suspect that FB changed policy to one that necessitates their apps.

I just poked through notification settings. There are two sections - What notifications you receive, and Where you receive notifications.
In the Where part, you can set All, Suggested (where they decide what you might be interested in), and Required. Maybe somehow they changed for you?

Under "messaging" I've got it set to Push + Email + SMS

"Where I receive notifications" > Email: "On, all", then further down that list is 'messaging' which is enabled.

Come to think of it, I never get e-mails notifications for anything other than log-on from another device stuff. But my 'Where' part is set to Suggested.
As for my phone, I get notifications for comments on posts, tags, friend requests and messages from Messenger app with no problems.
