I was wondering if the bump to an i5 750 is worth the lost of dual 16x PCI-e lanes when compared to 955BE with dual 16x lanes

-The resolution will be at 1080, and the SLI cards are 460s
-I am fine with both setups but im also on a budget, and i see some games actually run better on a 955 with improvement *rare*, but most are an ever so slight lost to an i5 at 1080 resolution, and at higher resolutions there is more pressure on GPU then CPU. Also i know the there is about a 2-8%; lost on dual 480s when ran on 8x PCI-e connections, but the percentage drops because of the weaker 460s.
I have done a bit of research but i haven't been able to decide on which system. I like AMD, but not if it will cost me perfomance, and i rather not pay for i5 cuz im on a budget. i5 clocks better, and beats out all AMDs but its so crazy, like its 16 lanes, P55 mobos that will only overclock to ram 1600 when the CPU is overclocked, price, foxconn*i don't know if its still a problem*, and outrageous stuff that makes it just harder to work with when compared to 955.

please back it up
Thanks for your help!

In the end, both processors will offer you great gaming performance with the edge going to the i5, but regardless of the advantage or the PCI-E limitation, you won't notice a difference, just get whatever you like or the cheapest you can get.

See which ever CPU i go with im plan on running 460 SLI

now what do you recomemnd?
i plan on using this mobo if i go AMD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131636
or an EVGA p55 SLI board if i go i5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-055-_-Product

do you guys see the jump over to i5 worth the extra 100 dollars or just 50 if the rebate with EVGA goes through, will SLI run better with the EVGA board? i'm sure the mobo is of better quality and can overclock better than the asus, but im limited when doing SLI on AMD

you probably won't notice the diff between the 750 and 955be from a cpu standpoint. typically you'll lose ~ 10-15% graphical performance by going with the lower pci-e bandwidth, however.

Don't bother upgrading the platform, Sandy bridge is too close to make a platform change now.

what is this sandy bridge going to be doing?

Edit:mhhh, ok but im not like something about this Sandy processor, you meant the processor in works by intel right? well, if i read correctly its a mobile CPU for laptops, and will limited in OCing since EVERY bus is locked by intel

im not liking this
