We just bought this house a few months ago and have slowly been fixing it up. We want to put in new dual pane windows and I think I can probably do it myself if I can just remove one of them to see how they're installed.

PICS

These were taken with my camcorder before I figured out how to take higher quality shots, so they're not that great. First three are outdoor shots and the last is from inside. If anybody knows how to remove these kinds of windows or can tell me about any resources on the web to find out how, I'd appreciate it thanks.

Most aluminum windows have a nailing flange under the siding.

If they are already replacement windows, there will be some kind of fastening system, screws etc, on the window tracks, or maybe some kind of removable...or snapout, piece of plastic covering the fastening system on the window track.

It looks like if you pryed off the dark green board, you would find the nailing flange there and not have to disturb the siding.

Cool. That's what I thought, but those dark green boards are proving to be a real bitch to get off and I wanted to make sure that's what I needed to do before potentially wrecking a few.

Thanks very much for your guidance.
