I'm searching to see what type of high speed internet i should get & i fount this.

7.1M/768K ADSL

But what i was wondering is how fast is this as it costs $159.99 per month.Right now i'm not really sure how much my connection is costing me as i got a bundle deal with other stuff but all i gotta say that it sucks.I had gave verizon a try & i never got 100k so i shut that down asap but now i see them after something like a 1.5m account which is faster then what i got now for only $34.99 but i want some fast as speeds like i use to have at my old place with was 3m.SO is this adsl or what ever it is faster then that ?

If this is for your home, you aren't going to need anything that fast. Especially for $160 a month! That's too much. Something on the 1Meg range would be really fast and much more economical.

That is a fast DSL connection. I have 1.5M and hit DL speeds of 165kbps but that would fly. I would love the upload speed though.

well let's see...

7100/8 = 887.5kb/s

but remember, that's maximum theoretical throughput. You never gonna see that kind of speed. What u actually get is dependent on distance from CO, quality of wiring, repeaters or bridges between you and the CO...

You'll probably see about ~700kb/s on average

700kbs is still great.I'm paying like $30 + right now for 100kbs max.

I wondering if i can get this plain from verizon as i saw it on there website somewhere. It was only like $109 if i was doing month to month or $99 is i signed up for the year.

Also m8 what type of wiring stuff your talking about ? like what will i need to try to get the max outta it.

Thanks is advance.

by quality of wiring, I meant the phone lines in your house, if your house is kinda old and the wiring is bad, you probably wont see a good connection. YOu have to remember that DSL is dependent on the phone lines. When the tech comes out and checks your signal, make sure you qualify for the maximum 7.1M/768 speeds. There's really nothing you can do to increase signal strength, it's one of those hit or miss situations.

I have a 3.5Mb cable connection..and it pulls 330KBytes have seen spikes of 400+ but not only depends on your wires and distance etc. but who you're downloading from. Don't think most sites can push really fast. I get those kinda speeds from a private NewGroup service, seems common speeds are in the 100-150 range. so doubt you'll see 700 much, unless you have some good bandwidth and hardware on the other end.

Any of you guys know if Verizon offers any 7.1mb account for homes.I know i see something about a adsl 7.1 account for $109 a month but not sure if i can get it or not.Im looking for something alittle cheaper then $159.99 per month & can't get any other cabel company other then the one i've now which is capped at 1mb.

Dang. That's some fast DSL. Is that the newer ADSL technology that they were coming out with? I can't remember what it's called exactly, or is it just an optimized 'regular' ADSL? We have a T1 here and we pay $550 a month (split between neighbors) but if I could have that sort of speed for 1/5th of the cost, we may have to do that!
