This is Hot Deal related, but isn't a Hot Deal itself, and thought it might get locked there. So I'll put it in Off Topic hoping somebody can help. And as long as I'm asking, has anybody put together a Hot Deal/rebating FAQ?

I got a deal at CompUSA this weekend for a 40GB WD drive and 128MB PC133 for $135 - $15 instant rebate - $30 WD rebate - $20 PNY rebate - $15 CompUSA rebate.

The WD and PNY rebates want the UPC from their respective packages. The CompUSA rebate also wants the UPC from both packages, since it was a bundle deal from CompUSA. The WD rebate says they will accept the capacity label, so I can use that and save the UPC for the CompUSA rebate. But the PNY memory packaging only has a single UPC. What do you rebate wizards do when this sort of thing happens?

Generally you send the original UPC to the manufacturer, and a copy to the stores rebate center. Call CompUSA to see waht thier policy is on this for sure.

This is how Staples handles their rebates. You buy a Hard Drive there is a manufacturer's and a Staples rebate both requiring the ORIGINAL UPC and ORIGINAL sales receipt. Staples will accept a photocopy of both if there is also a manufacturer's rebate as well. I will usually include a short letter advising them of this so they are aware of it.

Your best bet is to call CompUSA's rebate fulfillment and ask them just to be sure.
