Can any SSD update its firmware on a Mac?

I'm seeing a lot of SSDs that can be used in Macs (OSX), but require a Windows machine to update firmware. WTH?

For example I've heard none of the new Sandforce drives (like Vertex3) can be updated.

I actually have mostly Windows systems, but I don't want to buy an SSD for my Mac that requires two computers to maintain.

Are there any SSDs that can be updated on OSX?

Yeah. A lot have bootable flasher discs. Some have a utility that let you do it from windows if it's not your os drive.

Intel and I think Crucial.

However, you can run Boot Camp and update from that as well. Sandforce was supposed to come out with a Mac updater a while ago... Lazy bastards.
