Can any ram run dual channel?

I have 2 sticks of Kingston pc2700 that the box said was not dual channel ...does the ram have to be sold as dual channel???

I have a A64 3200 and Neo 2 plat sitting waiting to be put together but I want ot sort stuff first...

i was under the impression that the dual channel capabilites were solely because of the motherbaord

if it's the 939 version i think ur fine for dual channel. As long as it's the same size and speed it'll work i think.

I figured I give it a go...but wonder what others have done..

they are the same size 512mg, pc2700 with the same chip markings

Kingston Valuram

2.7v run at 200mhz

Shoot those might be Hynix BT-D43!! Read all the numbers off IC's neal. If they are 250mhz is a real possibily

Any ram can technically run dual channel, if it doesnt work, you are just unlucky.
I ran my generic PC3200 infineon dual channel mode with 100% success.

Dual channel is a property of the memory controller (chipset or CPU), not of the DIMMs. They don't have to be sold as dual packs to work--99.9% of the time you can run dual channel as long as your two sticks are identical. Sometimes you can even mix things and still have them all run like that.

I am running two umatched, generic AZENRAM PC2700 sticks in dual channel with no issues. Hehe one is TSOP and the other is BGA
