Can any one recommend a good KVM switch?

I have two computers and only want to use one keyboard and mouse. I was told that a KVM switch can allow me to do this. Who makes a good switch? Also, is there a problem with a wireless keyboard and mouse? Finally, will this affect the quality of the output of the monitors, i.e. will the monitors be less clear because of the KVM switch? Thank you

Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers even with different operating systems without special hardware.

Synergy software KVM download

Have not tried this myself but it is free!

With Synergy you still have to use separate monitors for each machine

You will need two KVM's for that and an extra for each monitor that you add.

I paid about $44 shipped for my 2 port Linksys KVM. Some of the best hardware I ever bought.

That Tom's hardware article on KVM's is a joke. He thinks that lowend crap should be considered for a KVM?

This is one of the best KVM's made..

I have two computers and four monitors. I guess that there would be two ports, one to connect to each computers. Is this correct?

You would need four (two port min per switch) KVM Switches, one keyboard and one mouse. They do make a monitor only swich, but i cannot remember what it is called or who makes it.

SO if you had a monitor only switch then you would need 3 of those and one KVM.

The only one of the KVM's reviewed by Tom's that switched PS/2 mouse & keyboard, audio and USB peripherals was the Fujitsu FS-102ATL.
Does anyone use another brand that switches ALL these functions?

They do make dual monitor KVM's. Belkin has them, among others.

They (Aten) must have been listening or reading this thread, I found this KVM that supports a Dual Monitor Setup.

I'm afraid of buying a KVM, because I keep inheriting old systems, so I dont know how many i'm actually going to have... :D
