I was sitting at my keyboard thinking. I use this damn thing so much and probably can't recall from memory the order of the letters.

I youtubed to see if people find this feat worthy of posting and found this.

So. Can any of you guys recite the keyboard alphabet from memory?

As long as my fingers can remember, I don't give a damn.

But anyways, the answer is probably yes, but I'd have to visualize myself typing to do it.

why would anybody be able to do that? what practical purpose is there doing that? if you can type, you can type
i have no idea anymore what letters are on the keyboard, i just know my fingers are in wrong place if the words don't show right on the screen

Why would anybody? Not sure there is a reason why.

Some people may just remember because they've looked at a keyboard so often or they have a different type of tactile memory recall.

Yes, I can. But typing it out here won't prove anything other than that I'm capable of hitting all the keys in order.

Youtube of you reciting it. Just audio of it if you don't want your face associated with this incredible feat.

you gave me a blank keyboard I could probably get 99% of the letter placement correct, symbols and such, not so much.

That's engaging a different part of your memory. I'm sure everybody with a blank keyboard could do it, or even just a touchpad with a script that hit every letter would eventually fill the keyboard with the proper letters.

Yeah, it's like try naming all the countries in Africa by just saying them. Then try naming them all, but whenever you name one you write it down. Then try putting their names on a map. Each one is progressively easier. I'd probably miss several if I had to just recite them, and I'd name some twice, but if I could look at a blank map it would be much easier.

I was able to name all the keys (including symbols) in order on my keyboard just now, but I noticed that as I was doing that, I was running my fingers along the keys.

If it's just letters, top and middle row are easy. Might miss some on the bottom row though.

Yeah that would totally prove it. It's near impossible to read a keyboard while recording.

I can tell the difference between someone reading something in front of them and reading from memory. Can't you?

I take the keys off my keyboards about 2 times a year to clean it really good. And without fail I'm never able to put it back how it was 100% without looking at another one.

Yes.

And the symbols on the number key. (exclamation, at, pound, dollar, percent, caret, ampersand, asterisk, parentheses, parentheses.)

But I have no children and nothing better to fill my brain with.
