Can any experianced Tribes2 players give me some general game tips?

Hi,
Ive just started using Tribes2 online, it seems like a great game. But i have a few questions to ask.

1) Does having a microphone help much with team communication? And is the microphone always "on", or do i have to press a button to use it?
2) What are the popular maps to play? And what map packs should i get, and where from.
3) Any play tips? I know the basics, such as skiing and things like that, but are there any others?
4) Anything else you need to mention?

I also have a program that`ll auto DL any other maps that i need, as i need them.

The microphones in T2 are pretty much worthless. The most you'll ever be able to clearly speak to someone is: "Thefligherndenshpolaff"

Learn to use the voice commands - best way to learn is just look at the characters next to someone else's speech.

Learn to be king of the light-armor before you move up. If you're a quaker the big thing you'll have to learn is how to manage the energy in your jet pack so that you're always airborne as your enemy runs out of jet. I like to use the ELF projector to make this happen more often >

There is a HUD enhancement you can download that allows the Broadsword Bomber pilots to see the bombadiers target - I think that bomber is worthless without this download.


Tribes2 rocks IMHO. I think I like Planetside better though. It reminds me a lot of tribes but isn't filled with a bunch of tards (sony has really polished the game rules so this doesn't happen).

Can you tell me where the HUD thing is available from? Ive tryed a HUD thing made by PJ, or something like that, and it sucks.
Planetside seems ok, but its a pay monthly game, so it doesnt interest me.
Im trying to get my fellow clan mates interested in Tribes2, and too add it to the clans game list.
