Can an unmodded PS2 play burned CDs?

I want to create a mixed cd from a bunch of new CDs I bought. Will my PS2 be able to read my burned CD mix?

Um, why don't you try it? It's not like CDRs are horribly expensive. Plus it'll take you all of what, ten minutes to compile and burn a disc?

To play a burned music CD? I don't think so.

My PS2 plays burned audio CDs all the time. No mod chip there.

Now if you want to play your "backup" games, you will need to mod.

I dont have an "backup" games. I just wanted to play a burned audio CD. I just burned a copy of my coldplay CD to test it, and it works great. Now I can make mixes to play!

burned music cds dont require a mod chip. all burned games require a modchip.
