can an sli setup drive 4 monitors?

Just wondering because I was going to get a third monitor. Also, can a crossfire setup drive 4 monitors?

SLI can drive 4 monitors. Crossfire, however, because of the patch cord required, cannot drive any more than 2 monitors.

afaik SLI is limited to 1 monitor when the cards are in SLI mode... disable SLI and you can drive as many monitors as you have DVI/VGA outputs on your cards

sli is only capable of 1 monitor, unless u disable SLI, then you can plug in 4 monitors, 2 by each of the 2 ports on your video card.., but thats not sli

Last time I looked, most gamers only use one monitor anyway.
However, it does become a pain when you have more then one monitor. You have to disable SLI every time you want to use the second monitor AFAIK.
