Can an optician lighten the tint slightly on my Maui Jim sunglasses?

Not an optician.. but I have never heard of that happening. I think the tint is embedded into the lens itself.

But I'm shocked, Google says yes:

They can also reuse the frame and put in new tinted glass.

You can do it at home...just soak them in a strong chlorine bleach for several hours. (stronger than household bleach will do the job better...and faster.)

Crest ultra-white. Smear a thick paste on the lenses and let it sit for a couple of days. Do not rub it in.

A set of non-prescription lens would be the way to go for a nicer pair like Maui Jims pick any color / shade / gradient you want.

Have you called Maui up to see if they have lighter tint options? They have excellent customer support.

Chloride and other chemicals could damage your frames and most will not work.
