Can an old fan make a vibration noise?

We have an old Sony LCD television that has a 120mm fan inside of it. We noticed that there's this ambient noise that the TV is making that sounds like a faint hum but you can definitely hear it in an otherwise quiet room. I'm thinking that it's the fan and a simple replacement is in order. Do old fans make this noise? I can't really turn the fan off while having the TV on, it would burn out the bulb.

Here's what I may have inside, but have to double-check it:

With one of my old beige boxes this was one of the times kicking a computer actually helped.

Fan bearings can get loose and jump in and out of massive vibrations if they resonate just right. Or just vibrate constantly.

Edit: But I'm guessing there are electronic malfunctions which can also sound like a mechanical vibration also...

It wasn't the fan after all. I tried hooking it up to one of the motherboard headers and it didn't make the noise I was expecting. Placed it back inside the TV, did a full dusting of everything, and that seemed to help it somewhat. It's still a good TV though.
