Can an AthlonXP run without problems on an SDRAM based motherboard?

I have an ASUS A7A 133, with an AMD Duron on it. After i will upgrade my video card this September next step is upgrading my processor. My motherboard can upgrade up to an Athlon XP 2000+ (after installing the latest bios version). My question is... how many of you are running an AthlonXP on an SDRAM based motherboard and if so, do you experience any problems?

i am close (Tbird 1.4 on ECS K7S5A SDRAM) but over at www.ocworkbench.com i have read of others who have done this. mind you it will bottleneck the CPU and is recommended only until you get DDR RAM, but it does work, and i'm sure it will i fyour board uses SDRAM.

With KT333 boards coming in at less than $99 for a good one, I would just sell your board, cpu, and Sdram and get a new board.

I am running a 2000+ XP on an MSI K7T turbo limited edition right now with sdram. I have heard that an xp on the sus board is kinda hit and miss. works fine for some but problematic for others.

Yea, it should work okay, but will be slow as hell considering what it's capable of. Like someone already mentioned, just sell your old board and ram and buy a new board and ram. You might be able to do it without spending much at all.

When it comes to SDR or DDR (in this board at least) it means squat. According to the FIringSquad and their research Posted Here the ECS with a T-Bird I think performs almost the same with SDR RAM as with DDR RAM. You may loose like what 5, 6 - 10fps?, not a big deal if you ask me. I got this board, Antec 300W PS, 512MB of Micron PC133 and I cound not be more happy with it! :D
