can an athlete ever recover mentally from what has happened to Kim?

never have I ever seen anything like this happen to anyone. Feel bad for him but I don't think an athlete regardless of how mentally strong can recover. I swithced in between the WWF and NBA games and missed the tonight's two run HR but someone told me he collapse on the mound for a little while.

I hope so, this kid has electric stuff. I really feel bad for him. 2 years in a row, 2 electric, young, future stars are just crumbled in the post season. It's a shame. That said I don't know if you can recover, look at Ankiel in the spring this year, couldn't get his release point back, although he did great in the minors. Hopefully, they'll both be back in the bigs sometime relatively soon.

Gee, I hadn't heard about the 'backs sending BK down. Whatever. He gave up the homers, yes, but Gonzalez let the guy on base last night because he was too deep. No big deal. BK will most likely be a starter next year; Matt Mantei will be back and re-assume the closer role, and they'll dump Albie Lopez and Todd Stottlemyre.

Hopefully RJ and Curt will go CG and get some run support in 6 & 7, though. ;)

Donnie Moore (1986 California Angel pitcher who cave up the game winning homer to the Red Sox) did not recover. He killed himself.

Bill Buckner (ground ball between the legs versus Mets) "recovered". He lives happily on some ranch.

yeah but what happened to anderson down the stretch was like one game. Kim gave up the tying runs in games back to back and also the winning HR in one. I think back to back nights just makes it soooo bad for him. Wholers and Ankiel just went into some twilight zone but it never happened in such dramatic fashion and twice in the Series.

well most people think donnie moore killing himself did not have any direct relationship to the homer, but yeah not good...buckner has been able to because it became almost a folk lore i think...

i really hope kim comes back i mean the kid is only 22 years old...thats a sh!t load to carry...he looked devestaded on the mound there

kim is the pitcher for the d backs.......2 nights straight he gave up a 2 run homer in the 9th with 2 outs for yanks to tie and eventually win in extra innings.....pretty close games

yeah Kobe threw up like a 3 airballs down the stretch but that was just that one game. Anyways the lakers were behind so there wasn't all that pressure, you really can't be the goat without holding the lead or at least blowing it when it is tied. Plus he was like so young like 17 or so and at that time there was nobody on the Lakers willing or able to take the shots near the end of the game. It was also the second round of the West and not the Finals or Series. So I think what happened to Kim well is unparalleled.

I think it depends on how much of his sense of self-worth is based on his professional accomplishments. If this is "just a job" or "just a game" to him, then he should be fine. If not, then he'll have some trouble.

I was really rooting for the DiamondBacks, too. The endings of the games sure were exciting, though.

if the diamondbacks win the world series, he'll be fine.
if they lose, he will be forever shunned.

ok, maybe not forever. probably a day or two ;)

I can't blame everything on him for the game 4 because the 1st base guy(dont' know his name) slipped and missed easy ground ball, allowing man on 1st base.
I would like to see him go back game 6 7 and D back win .

hey my last name is Kim too, anyone else here?

guys, before you feel sorry for athletes when they screw up, just remember that they are all hella rich so they will be fine.

Am I dreaming?

Who has ever thought WTC collapsed by the terror?

Who has ever thought 2 run tying homers in the 9th inning in a row?

well, chan ho's 2 grand slams in one inning to the same player didn't ruin his career. now that's pretty damn embarrassing. giving up #70 & 71 to bonds didn't ruin his career...

but damn that's gotta be devastating to byung hyun... i would not like to be him right now.
