When future Americans look back at this mess I wonder what they will say. Is this the beginning of the end for America?

Many things. Supply side economics, 24-7 news channels that are spewing fear and propaganda, our culture of fear, deregulation, our military driven economy with failed war after war wasting our tax dollars, prioritizing military spending, corporate lobbying of our politicians, think tanks whose sole purpose is to publish one sided propaganda, our inability to focus on real issues but instead get distracted by only talking about abortion or gay marriage, our strong sense of patriotism that discourages honest discussion about our problems, electing politicians who don't work.

Mostly though the vast majority of Americans just don't know anything different and are the frog slowly boiling to death. This problem has been quite long in the making.

Too bad we can't just grow up, those that refuse to that is.
The scary part, many hold positions of power in government and business.
Can America survive the stupid policy?

China is advancing in the space program with launching a moon orbiter.
Modern countries have better healthcare that we do. And can ever hope to.
All the while, America is the richest nation and most powerful but that is no guarantee it will last.
We seem to be sitting on the sidelines while China, Japan, and Russia are certainly not.

All while in America, the trend is to squeeze the middle class into submission, restrict voting rights, gerrymander districts to ensure misrepresentation, guns guns guns everything guns, progress backwards in denial when it comes to addressing climate change, energy, minority rights, women rights, equality, clean environment, our failing addressing infrastructure, and our practice of continually voting for the craziest looniest politicians out there.

We missed all the signs.
The signs of an impending 9/11, the signs of Ebola entering the country, and a guy running inside the Whitehouse front door.
Just to name a few of the more current news events.

When America is solely controlled and ran by business and the Mitt Romney's, and we look around to find other countries with high speed railway, energy dependency, sound national security, common sense laws and protections, I wonder about that day when we will see ourselves as some third world country.
Wealthy, maybe, but too stupid to handle reality and constantly tripping over our own feet.

And potholes that could eat a truck.

And still our only achievement?
Electing the stupidest politicians available to office.
Stay tuned.

Probably not.

Most of what you posted there was pretty rudimentary to begin with, so that just enforces the whole thing.

Things like this after the initial post just proves the fact.

IDK, the biggest idiot is running the country.

I'll probably be dead in less than 10 years and we'll still have idiots out there like that running around like country dumbfucks degrading the gene pool.

Americans are actually slowly getting wiser. I think most are coming around to the fact that the economic and political system is rigged against them. But they aren't at a stage where they know what to do with that knowledge, so they are just thrashing around. But they'll come around on that too, like they came around on gay marriage.

China is stupider. Much stupider. Don't be fooled by their bluff, they are horribly incompetent. The USA is still more trustworthy than say... Russia in terms of doing business and honoring contracts. Just look at what Russia is doing to Mcdonalds just because they don't like the US.

I agree, maybe I did not make the point intended as clearly as I intended.

For an advanced civilization, we are falling behind.
When the simple idea of sound infrastructure becomes a left-right issue, we have a big problem with stupid.

When the only real achievements we can boast about is with having the best military in the world, that isn't exactly going to save us from ourselves.
Unless that power turning against our people and our communities should become the trend.
And lately this has become the trend.
Military equipped police. And the enemy?
My concern is one day we look around at other countries, like China and Japan and Russia, and wonder what the hell happened?

When our climate is a total mess, roads are a total mess, bridges are a total mess, and our society relies still on dirty air polluting buses for mass transit, at what point does a country realize it just might be in big trouble?

Every modern civilization must keep up the investment, year after year.
No politics about it, unless the "STUPID" should get in the way.
There is no playing "catch-up" when a country as large as we should fall too far behind.
There is no possible way we could or would be able to afford playing catch-up.
There is no catching-up. You have to keep on top of this every single moment.
And we certainly have no time for STUPID.
And the stupid I refer to is this total lack of foresight by politicians.
Not only foresight, but their complete and total lack of concern.

No, I'm not picking on Obama. But he certainly does share some blame.
As president, he should push the threat of falling behind more so than he has.
He gives a good speech, when someone listens, which is rare.
Obama seems to have the desire for investing in the future, investing in infrastructure, investing in technologies for energy, etc etc. But words just won't make that happen.
And Obama, regardless of Obamacare, Obama has seen the benefit in having a healthy citizenship as a whole.
Thus his Obamacare, with hopes having more insured.
Not perfect, but the best possible for what we had to work with.

You have to read between the lines and realize we are in big trouble here.
Take the Keystone Pipeline. A perfect example.
This should be a no brainier. Building that pipeline.
Regardless of what jobs that might or might not create, or which country this really benefits most.

The scary thing with all of this that people are missing, is that we have to debate.
Many experts have this feeling America would royally screw this project up.
People have real concerns that if that pipeline should break, leak, rupture, or worse become the target of terrorist, many have doubt that we, America as we now stand, would or could be capable of handling such a disaster of massive proportion.
That should make everyone stop, think, and ask exactly what the hell have we been doing here as a nation?
Where and why have we failed at something so simple?

If we find ourselves concerned with a simple pipeline, what about everything else in our future?
Roads, bridges, dams, levees? Education? Healthcare? Climate? Transportation?
The STUPID would ignore the future and prefer to make a few political brownie points.
But when all hell breaks lose, where will they the stupid be?
Nowhere to be found, that's where.

FDR was and is praised for his foresight when it came to our future, planning ahead, our infrastructure, creating parks, and all this during a depression.
FDR is remembered.
The stupid will not be remembered.
They just do the damage.
And we the people empower the stupid.
That is why I asked, can we survive stupid?

PS....
Here is just one example of STUPID.
Mitch McConnell hates Obamacare and will repeal it.
But he favors his states healthcare called KYNECT.
KYNECT is Obamacare. Obamacare is KYNECT.
Kentuckians ACA healthcare is KYNECT.

Mitch will do everything possible if given the chance to repeal Obamacare, but not his states KYNECT.
Now I ask... is this simply the stupid? Or exactly what?
Is Mitch that stupid? Or does he believe Kentuckians are the stupid?

So....... Just how long can a country afford to be ran on the stupid, and by the stupid?
Just multiply his theory by climate, infrastructure, education, economy, and national security.
Can we survive stupid?
I'm asking....
.

Mitch isn't stupid, he just thinks you are stupid, along with all of his other constituents.

It's interesting that you mention infrastructure. I never really noticed until I was out of the country for a few years and came back. Then you really notice how far behind we are. I kinda feel that this is what most Americans are suffering from. If they just had something to compare to. It still strikes me as incredible odd how primitive the USA is in certain ways. Checks? Why the hell are we using checks? How primitive is our banking system? Internet? Ours is crazy slow. Mass transit is non-existant. Our roads are not that great and if you want to see the most tourist unfriendly tolling system in the world just check out the golden gate bridge.

The US has too many people with a CBD, one of the symptoms of which is low level thinking, the feeling of need for a snap decision because anxiety and fear prevent strategic thinking. This is much like a viral infection, the more frightened and illogical people become, the more people grow up having the hysteria around them infect them with the disease. But then a whole industry has arisen to manage stress and fear, to promise products that if you own them, will make you happy again. I have become so miserable myself, I'm thinking of ways to steal Matt1970's brain dead armor. I hear it's fleece lined and fuzzy-wuzzy and will give me confidence in my intellectual powers the size of Manhattan.

You only hate me because I never tire of pointing out the glaring lack of evidence in your theoretical nonsense and your claiming it as fact. You also hate me because I point out you are a one trick pony only able to blame everything on conservative brain defects. Remove CBD from your repertoire and your posting would consist of nothing more than "eww", "ahh" and an occasional "LOL"

America cannot even claim to be the richest nation. We have a very small group of people who are standing around the spigot of the federal reserve bank, collecting an unending flow of freshly printed digital dollars. Meanwhile everyone else is going broke / in debt at a frantic pace.

That's not fair. How can I compete with the ego the size of Manhattan. You realize, I hope that you conflate your self importance by claiming I hate you. as if you had the power to provoke such feelings. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Others here simply dismiss you as a hack and a tool, a very stupid one at that. I offer you hope by presenting you with your true condition. There is nothing wrong with you other than your brain defect and that is the product of a need to defend your ego, a need generated by self hate. You have been taught that to be who you really are makes you worthless, but you're not worthless to me because I know that what you really are is OK. We are all the same. I just like me better than you like you. That makes me look pretty awful in your eyes too, since it's that self I like that you don't see. I'm here to tell you that if you were to let go of your ego, you'd not be a nothing like you think I would, but rather that you'd be unimaginably great. You can't begin to imagine your true worth. Love you.

The Muslims say that the sword of God is the empty bellies of the poor. Do you see the sword of God coming for the heads of the rich. Nothing can stand before the will of God is another saying I've heard.

You're going to trash the way citizens are treated in the U.S. while simultaneously give props to what China & Russia are currently doing?

So I hate myself but have an ego the size of Manhattan. Can you just imagine what the size of my ego would be if I loved myself?
